• EARTHQUAKE

From Bruce@21:1/5 to All on Fri Apr 5 15:06:28 2024
We had an earthquake here around 10:25 AM. My whole house shook for a few seconds like the wind was about to blow it down.

Thanks Steve, believe it or not that's what I guessed it *might* be. I
do have a sense of humor, but for me, that situation, with even the
largest wallet made, is so farcical/impossible that it doesn't make
for a good joke. Also, Bruce, as far as I'm aware, does not have a
reputation for being very rich, or very poor.
Further, wallets carry notes and credit cards, not a lot of coin.
Yes, I'm being pedantic, a joke pooper so to speak, but
I just don't think it's funny, because its *overly* outlandish.

    hyperbole

"exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally"

the 'joke' is still not funny, because the exaggeration does not meet
the Monty Python test - able to be seen as comical when seen
physically - in this case the dropping of a wallet followed by a
shaking of a property - viewers would be left befuddled rather than
amused - this contrasts with the outlandish Ministry Of Silly Walks
    sketch...

Oh dear! Bruce dropped his wallet again
    ----------
    ROTFL!!!!!
does Bill or Steve, for instance, get this joke? :-)
Don't know about Bill, but I got it. It seemed pretty obvious to me. >>>>> Thanks Steve, please reveal the pretty obvious.

Bruce's wallet is so heavy from being chocked full of all the money he >>>>has, when he dropped it,  it hit the floor  with such force... shall I >>>>go on ?

Thanks Steve, believe it or not that's what I guessed it *might* be. I
do have a sense of humor, but for me, that situation, with even the >>>largest wallet made, is so farcical/impossible that it doesn't make
for a good joke. Also, Bruce, as far as I'm aware, does not have a >>>reputation for being very rich, or very poor.
Further, wallets carry notes and credit cards, not a lot of coin.
Yes, I'm being pedantic, a joke pooper so to speak, but
I just don't think it's funny, because its *overly* outlandish.

It's satire. Which is simply making fun of something through irony,
    derision, or wit.

    hyperbole

    hyperbolic satire or saterical hyperbole.

Jim, I don't see any irony, derision, or wit in this 'joke'.

But I'm open to being enlightened by you, or by anyone else.

You are not required to feel anyway about it. Same as your opoinion of
records here. This isn't a test.
