Just as L'il Wally was the male bane of many collectors who spent hours searching thru the stock of many of those old American record warehouses
so Marjorie (or "Margie") Meinhert--pianist and organist---was the
female equivalent (tho their actual music wasn't the least bit similar)

The lady recorded many titles for both Fraternity and RCA and drove us
crazy on several occasions having to wade thru her dross in bulk

    That's funny!

I never even heard of her before today. And believe me, I have lots of
shitty 50s pop here in my sales stock.

When I look through the vinyl in a thrift store, I always find at least
one copy of Herb Alpert's WHIPPED CREAM AND OTHER DELIGHTS, not to
mention tons of LPs by Perry Como (usually Christmas titles), Andy
Williams, Enoch Light, and Jerry Murad's Harmonicats. Those damned
things must have sold in the millions!

I know the feeling well but to be fair to both Como and Williams both
had several singles over the years that I liked well enough to include
in my yearly fave records lists

In my garage sale days in the mid to late 70s the albums I most often
saw was "The First Family" by Vaughn Meader. It was number one for 12
weeks from DEC 62 through FEB 63. It was also sold in supermarkets and
other non record stores for like $1.99 which helped it sell a ton of
    copies.

Second would probably be this one below:

I probably didn't see as many Herb Alperts then because they were only
like 10 years old and people were still listening to them.
