    But he only sang that way after rock and roll had become all over the mainstream pop charts. Here is what he sounded like in the early 50s.

    Yes, I've heard the originals. And yes, like many pop singers, he put some
    more rhythm and "sound" ooomph into his singing becaue of r'n'r. Even Nat Kng Cole did that.
