My other post never showed up. We have disagreements here. My #1 is by
Fats, but #2 is by someone else.

I am also not near as big on "Stack_A-Lee" as you. It won't even make my
top 50, maybe not even top 100.

Lotta great records but we have disagreements still. A Fats song is
number one for me, but #2 is by someone else. I'm gonna work on it.

"Believe What You Say" was always my favorite of his singles but he also
does a fine job on "Hello Mary Lou" much better than the dull Johnny
Duncan (the US guy not the "San Fernando" singer) original.

And definitely VERY MUCH better than the dull "Travelin' Man" side that
went to #1 over there. Here in UK "Mary Lou" was #2 the biggest hit he
    ever had in UK

I like "Travelin' Man" better than the more progressive "Hello May Lou"
side. I also prefer the 1959 LP version of "Believe What You Say" with
the Jordanaires singing background. They were supposed to be on the
single too but somebody fucked up and mastered the single with the
original recording before the Jordanaires were dubbed in.

    6. Lonesome Town

    8. I'm Walkin'
    9. Hello Mary Lou
    10. Never Be Anyone Else But You
    11. Waitin' In School
    12. I'm In Love Again
    13. My Rifle, My Pony And Me (Dean Martin)
    14. A Long Vacation

Time to look at the various subsidiaries of Imperial and some of the

Pretty well everyone seems to include "Shirley Lee" (from Ricky's second
LP released in 1958) among his best recordings. I'm certainly one of the
fans of that song and whilst I think Bobby Lee Trammell's original on
Fabor is the better version Ricky certainly deserves that place on
peoples fave lists with his excellent reading

Minit had been distributed by Imperial for a while before becoming a
bona fide subsidiary in late 1961 (and now reflected in the UK London
label catalog number that identifies the larger US original record
    companies)

Instant may have been distributed by Imperial at some point(s)-- but I
have nothing to suggest it was an actual subsidiary.

    Bruce what say you?
