Whatta y'all think about flat towing 6K on a 5K hitch?

Those things are likely under rated (CYA) maybe risky, maybe not. Is that
the hitch capacity or the max towing capacity.

The 5,000 lbs. is the max gross weight the hitch is supposed to have
pulled with it. I do believe you could go a little over it safely, but
I got some good news today. I mistakenly was looking at the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). This is where I was getting my 6K lbs. from.
Dumb mistake on my part. I found out today the shipping weight, what I
would consider very close to the curb weight on the Bronco Outer Banks
is 4660 Lbs. Totally made my day and I bought it on the spot. Now I
just have to get the flat towing setup all on it and start using it!

I took it over a scale today and I came in legal, but it won't leave me
much room, if any, to put anything in the Bronco. 4980 lbs. So I guess
with a Blue Ox hitch setup totaling 67.2 lbs I'm maxed out. If I don't
have a full tank of fuel I can still get it under 5000lbs.

I don't think I'd worry about it - unless I had an irresistible
compulsion to pull into weigh stations. You could also take laxatives
and be able to carry a little more gas most of the time.

My concern was if by some weird chance a cop decided to pull us over and
check things. Now, I at least have a weigh ticket in the Bronco showing
    it under 5K.

What I wanted to do was get a bumper bike rack for the bronco to be able
to carry two bikes on trips. I'll get one anyway for use on trips where
we intend on going somewhere just to ride bikes and not pull the Bronco,
so I might just do it anyway after I see how it feels pulling the truck.
