• Ozarks tips

From Ted@21:1/5 to All on Thu Aug 15 12:06:07 2024
Well, my wife suggested seeing some of the Ozarks on our next camping trip.
Below are some of the possible options she's found so far. Any
recommendations among these, or others? I expect we'll only have 2-3 days
    in the area.

Buffalo National River (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)

Devil's Den State Park | Arkansas State Parks

    Ozark-St. Francis National Forests - Home (usda.gov)

Ozark National Scenic Riverways (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)

Lake of the Ozarks State Park | Missouri State Parks (mostateparks.com)

There is a nice auto museum next to the park if you are into those things.
I like because it has some vintage cars I can relate to.

Thanks for the tip. It's a little farther along than I've planned
so far, but I'll run it by the wife anyway.

    Here's another I can't believe I forgot.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blanchard_Springs_Caverns

Beautiful cave system run by the National Forrest Service. It's only a
couple of hours SE of Branson in northeast, Arkansas. I have been there
several times and find this more attractive than even Carlsbad. They are "living" caves, meaning you can't touch anything or they will toss you
out on your keister. Well worth the visit.

Also, Mountain Home, AR is near and nice if you like folksy stuff.

Hey Ted, is your email address good? If so, and if you want, I'll send
you links to maps on my Google Drive of flatspots where I camped in a
previous life, and of COE, BLM, and other public campgrounds.

That would be great! Yes, the address is real. I'm tentatively
looking at Ozark-St. Francis NF as a possible place to flatspot?

I don't know, but keep in mind that Google Maps in satellite view is
pretty good for finding possible flatspot spots.

Received, thanks! FWIW, I sent an e-mail reply, but got a
response indicating it got rejected by the server.
