• Repairs Almost Complete

From sticks@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jul 2 15:40:34 2025
I did get the RV back a couple days ago and it looks very good. Still
waiting to take it back for replacement of the awning cover once it
comes in and a replacement plastic cover that goes around the fog light
on one side that fell off on the way home. They must not have had all
the tabs in right and it flew off somewhere.

Today I drove it up the 60 miles to Madison to have them look at the
cruise control not working, the mirror turn signals giving an error, and
the dashboard warning that the drivers airbag is faulting. There was a
loose connector under the seat that when pushed in properly fixed the
air bag warning. Evidently both mirrors had blown bulbs and they
replaced them both. Guy said they might have just gotten a bad batch,
which sounded odd to me, but we'll see if they go out again. I thought
there must be a short somewhere.

The cruise worked for about 10 miles when I left this morning, then I
felt it go out and a warning on the dash said "Active Assist Cancelled" whatever the hell that means. I couldn't get it back on the rest of the
drive. Of course, when they looked at it it was working for them they
said, but they did a software upgrade and it did work all the way home. Hopefully that is fixed cause it sucks not having that working and
having to use the pedal. Hard to keep it at speed.

We were supposed to get the Bronco back tomorrow, but I haven't heard
from the shop yet. All in all I'm pleased. This unfortunate incident
is almost over and we can get back to livin' large again!

    Excellent news!

Okay, I just had to replace end covers for both ends of the awning
on our Lance 1475. I'd knocked one end cover loose banging it
into something, and had snapped it back into place with the less
than full complement of tabs, expecting it would not last. For
whatever reason, next time I looked the outer cover at the other
end was also gone. Took me quite a while to find the right
replacement, but I finally got it done.

The day I put them on I hadn't thought to take my extension
ladder, so I stacked one of the ubiquitous red jack stands...

    https://andersenhitches.com/product/trailer-jack-block/

...on top of a milk crate and stood on that combo to reach up to
the awning ends. I was strecched up as far as I could reach with
my back against the trailer exterior when the stand went shooting
out from under me. I fell pretty heavily and slammed my back
against the wall on the way down. Knocked the wind out of me and
I saw stars. Thought for a moment I might need an ambulance, but
I ended up with only a small scrape (from the furnace exhaust
cover, I think). Pretty lucky. I've since gotten a 12 ft
telescoping ladder that now resides in the pass through space.

And speaking of getting the tabs in right, I had a repair of the
liftgate on my Acadia at the dealer, and when I got it back
noticed a trim piece above the passenger rear wheel was missing.
What a pain that was to get them to fix it.

Ugh. For what it's worth, I've had the active (adaptive) cruise
assist on my Acadia drop out a few times. More often than not,
it's been somehing interfering with a forward facing camera. FOr
example, one time was driving in sleet, and when I stopped and
cleared the slush off the front it all worked fine again.

Got it back and it looks really good. I just have to swap out the
7-prong plug for a new one I already bought from Blue Ox and it's done.
Wife is very happy to get her toy back, and I guess I can't blame her.

Really is amazing how they can fix something as beat up as that thing
was and you'd never know it. It wasn't detailed when we bought it, so
it actually looks better than when we first got it as they had it
looking like it just came off the showroom floor

Yep. I will be here through Sunday. So far so good. We are several miles
from the city. Haven’t seen a green hair yet.
