I got out with the DJI Air 2S at the coast today. This time a flight along the Estero Bluffs to Cayucos with a glimpse of the Cayucos pier.

I don't suppose you know what that windmill things is for or does at about 8mins in.
The only I can think of is a weather station.

The only thing I can think it is, is an agricultural relic that has yet to be done in by weather.

I've seen similar windmills which are water pumps.

I coudl understand that more inland on farms where water is pumped from wells , but they are close to the sea.
so doubt they'd be pumping sea water even then where and why are they pumping it.

    Just a thought.

From the 'lie of the land' it's possible that there has been much
coastal erosion over many years. That windmill/pump might well have been
a mile or three inland from the coast back in, say, 1850.

Maybe from the creek just behind it ? It appears to have enough
elevation to be beyond tidal effects of sea-water.
