• Problem getting Windows OS to recognise Nikon Coolscan LS40 as such

From Amanda Ripanykhazova@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jul 20 08:17:07 2022
I am having difficulties finding anyone who recognises this problem: Is anyone here familiar with this idiosyncrasy: When i plug my Coolscan into my OS (Windows 7), sometimes the OS recognises the scanner as an LS40, and then the scanner performs
    flawlessly.

But relatively often, when I plug the scanner in, the OS recognises the scanner as a Nikon IOUSB device. Then, I can't get the scanner to show any pictures at all or do any sort of link up to NikonScsn! Re-plugging in makes no difference, nor does
powering off the scanner, turning it on again and having windows re-recognise the device. I certainly havent been able to change the driver in device manager from IOUSB to LS40!

Has anyone had this problem and noticed any reason why why the OS sees the LS40 as a mere Nikon IOUSB device please?

thanks for that. i reverse engineered the driver about 4 years ago but this problem cuts in at the stage before the driver is installed.
The os either sees the scanner as an ls40 or as a Nikon IOUSB.
