    That is simply amazing!

Reading the 'comments' is worthwhile in itself.

    Thank you for posting.

What do you consider to be the best way to show photographs here on Usenet? (I don't have a website). TIA

Some image hosting service that supports big images ... something like

Yes, I use flickr I think it's free for upto 200 photos afterf that it's subscribtion but it might have changed since I first joined.
    https://www.flickr.com/photos/whiskydave
You can make the pictures private or public or restrict them to certain groups of flickr users like friends, family.
You cna post to other groups with simialr photo interests etc..

dropbox is also useful for tempory useage.
I guess there's other like google drive too but this are more isolated sites, but handy if no interaction from others is wanted.

I've stored items on Dropbox and I use use Imgur.com too

Some folk are afraid to click on links though. I'd wondered if there
were Usenet groups which show images without a need to click on a link.

Yes. »Blur« is the right expression ... a bit similar to old Chinon

    Example of old Chinon

I'm not sure where I would keep this lens when not being used,
but for portraits it would be amazing.

My daughter suggested that I try taking close-ups using the portrait >>>>>> setting on my iPhone (SE - 2nd gen.). I've had some great results
    - or
    so they seem to me!

What do you consider to be the best way to show photographs here
on Usenet? (I don't have a website). TIA

Some image hosting service that supports big images ... something
like Flickr might be good and easy platform for that.

Then you can just share the hyperlink and people will come.

    Thanks, Bud! 🙂

    How does THIS look?

It looks swell. Only for my personal taste I'd like these kind of
photos a bit more saturated, but otherwise nice.

Understood. I haven't 'played' with the image - that how it came from
    my iPhone!

Kinda figured it was OOC picture :)

Here's another - trying to demonstrate that the portrait mode on the
    iPhone CAN blur the background:-

Yes. »Blur« is the right expression ... a bit similar to old Chinon
lenses, but not quite. I personally like ole Chinon bokeh ... There is something to it, don't quite know what.

    Example of old Chinon

    Thanks. I had a quick explore! :-)

The cats were Yin and Yang - once the delightful pets of FromTheRafters. >>> I once stole it from him ..... but I apologised and he let me keep the

Su-Lin and Mai-Ting were their names.

Did you even TELL me their names?!!

This is the third time I have, but always in response to your telling
someone else that they are Yin and Yang. Yes the Yin/Yang idea is in
    the positioning, not their names.

Too much distortion for close-ups I should think.

    a) Did you watch ALL of the video?

    Yes.

    b) Have you explored the OP's website?

No, but objective lens size can cause distortions on close subjects.

    If not, you should!

    Maybe I will.
