How is the FBI supposed to distinguish between real art and fake art these days?

Well I hope they had the good taste to colorize them.

Difference being, Adams work was art, unlike the worthless trash show above.

Didn't the Nazis also claim that all modern art was trash?
If art didn't depict something they could wrap their simplistic mind around, then it
    was somehow degenerate trash.

They don't have to distinguish between real art and fake art.
Whether it is art doens't mater it's whether it's fake or not.
Just like any other product, it can be tested scientifically and by provenance.

Most dull people see and think in black and white. I wouldn't call Monet trash, but I would call a banana stuck to a board trash>

Still, it's kind of subjective what art is or who is an authority to decide what qualifies as art.
Part of the fun of art is exploring freedom of expression, including the freedom to poke fun
at closed-minded conceptions of what constitutes art.

Art is only worth what you are prepared to pay for it, is what I told a friend who was studying fine art
when we were discusing what art is. ;-)

It looks like it runs in the family:

"Beard’s gallery was created by her father, Thomas Halsted in 1969
and was a respected gallery focused on photography. He died in
2018, and his obituary notes how he ***forged*** friendships with
great photographers, including Adams." [empahsis mine]
