    onto my computer.

    of course not.

I had simply 'watched them' at the links posted by
Savageduck, I did not download them.

yes you did, otherwise you could not have watched it.

If I do so again, WHERE will the video file be stored on my iMac?

    Hi folks!

A clear and concise explanation of how things work may be found here:-

    https://www.lifewire.com/icloud-share-store-video-1081860

My sincere thanks to poster 'Snit' who showed it to me.

Sadly, it does NOT explain ho the videos of Savageduck found their way
onto my computer. I had simply 'watched them' at the links posted by
Savageduck, I did not download them.

If they weren't downloaded, then you didn't see them.

For the benefit of ALL readers, you need to explain! ;-)

If I watch again, by visiting one of Savageduck's links in 'rec.photo.digital', no record of it can then be found on my computer.
Or, rather, *I* can find no record of it. Where do YOU look to find it on YOUR MacBookPro?

    TIA

I never saw any link to click since I don't do NNTP on my Macbook. I'm
thinking that if I did, it would go to my temp files rather than my
Downloads directory. I'm not sure how Apple handles share links though.

Unless it's streamed that hows things normally work, even streaming downloads something.

    Thanks.

Should that be so, WHERE on my hard-drive(s) will the video/data be stored?

Depends what you used to view or download it perhaps a cache folder or tempory folder.

No I didn;t miss this post I told you how it could be done.
While logged into your own icloud you click on the download to iCloud option
as there are two choices in buttons click on one rather than download copy option.

Or you have a folder that automatically sychs to iCloud and you downloaded a copy
to you HS/SSD which got syched to iCloud.
\Nothing dodgey going on except for yuor memory of what you did.

How did Jesus get on there ?

    Hi folks!

A clear and concise explanation of how things work may be found here:- >>>>>>
    https://www.lifewire.com/icloud-share-store-video-1081860

My sincere thanks to poster 'Snit' who showed it to me.

You are welcome. Happy to teach pretty much anyone who is willing to learn...
assuming I know the info, LOL!

    :-D

Sadly, it does NOT explain ho the videos of Savageduck found their way >>>>>> onto my computer. I had simply 'watched them' at the links posted by >>>>>> Savageduck, I did not download them.

Watching them at those links likely has nothing to do with them showing up on
    your computer.

    So the question remains!

How DID they get onto my iCloud Drive! (from my computer, I know!)

We do not have enough information to know. Most likely scenario is you
downloaded them there, or downloaded them elsewhere and dragged and dropped >>> them there. But you do not recall doing so.

    Question!

If I click on the link to watch - some claim that the video would be
    automagically downloaded onto my computer.

Should that be so, WHERE on my hard-drive(s) will the video/data be stored?

If you view it in a browser it might get downloaded to a cache. That would be in your Library folder, under Safari (or whatever browser you use).

I couldn't find it - nor can I reproduce it.

    Very odd. <shrug>

If you view it in a browser it might get downloaded to a cache. That would be
in your Library folder, under Safari (or whatever browser you use).

I couldn't find it - nor can I reproduce it.

    Very odd. <shrug>

    What's "odd" about it?

I can usually work at a problem until I can find the solution.

    In this case, I'm stumped.

Snit has suggested that Apple itself may have changed matters but I have
    no way of checking.

Do YOU want to try solving the problem with me?

First you must click on one of Savageduck's Morro links in

Always, but there is nothing I can do on my end to replicate your
scenario. I have no other devices in my Apple World to share stuff with
to see if it 'lands' anything in my iCloud Drive. What you shared to
me, shows up as shared -- but nothing else showed up as shared.

My sister bought a new laptop and I am trying to migrate her stuff onto
it. My major hurdles these days is that everyone expects a telephone
number to be textable and the recovery tel# they ask for is useless
when they only text you. Add to that that she has her google recovery
email address set to a defunct old provider's xxx@ne.rr.com address.

    I'm fixing it though.

I see another drive wipe & OS install in your near future. You know you
    want to.

Please post an EtreCheck scan of YOUR Apple iMac.

    We can then compare.

It would be great if your knowledge level could somehow advance to the
point where you no longer need to compare what you see to what others
see. Until then, I'm not interested in comparing anything with you.
    That's something that kids do.

I do not see much problem with that. MUCH better than trying to compare to see who is "better".

Indeed. You are quite right, Snit.

I strongly suspect that Kelly Phillips is simply unwilling to take the
risk of loading and running EtreCheck on her Apple computer.

As you know, it turned YOUR iMac into a 'brick'! ;-)
