• Olmpus dropped from name of (formerly) Olympus cameras

Now it's "OM Digital Solutions" a truly awful name. It's not a product, it's a "solution." I've always despised that label for a PRODUCT. It's a pathetic cold corporate moniker that smacks of a desperate attempt to make them more attractive to
millenials. Like rebranding Kentucky Friend Chicken "KFC." I picture a group of old men with canes standing around saying, "Doesn't it sound hip, won't that appeal to the youngsters?"

Maybe Olympus as a brand name doesn't have the reputation it needs.

The brand name actually is "OM System". But I agree, they could have
    chosen some other name.

    OlymPUS never great.

But OMS would go down a treat with the transcendental crowd ....

the om-1 through om-4 film cameras were legendary, the latter two with
the best implementation of spot metering on any camera.

I had an OM-4 and it worked well with the Zone System.

it's 8 multi-spot metering worked well in all sorts of conditions,
particularly difficult lighting situations, such as theatre.

I completely agree with you on this. Additionally, the Olympus lenses
were also excellent, and differed from other makes because they
maintained gradation and contrast across f-stops.
