As you've probably heard, we had a pretty productive ARRL Board Meeting.
The big news, of course, is the dues increase. While a difficult
decision, it's the right decision for the organization. Getting the
ARRL on a sound financial footing is going to benefit us as individuals
and amateur radio in general. The feedback we are getting is generally positive. Members understand what we are trying to accomplish.
Iowa Section Manager Lee Garner, WA0UIG, told me that members are
concerned that they might have a gap in their print QST editions before
they are able to subscribe to the print version of the magazine. The
changes will not take place until January 1, 2024. There will be plenty
of notice before the policy on print magazines takes effect.
I'm sure you have other questions. To that end, I am pleased to
announce that ARRL Chief Executive Officer David Minster, NA2AA, will be
taking part in our upcoming Town Hall meeting. He will talk about where
we are and give you a chance to ask him questions.
The Town Hall will be held on Monday, July 31, at 8pm Central Time. I
will send out the Zoom link later this week.
While the main topic will be a discussion of what went on at the ARRL
Board Meeting, I would appreciate suggestions of additional topics.
Please email your ideas to me at
k0aiz@arrl.org.
Vice Director Dave Propper, K2DP, our Section Managers, and I look
forward to seeing you next week.
