Transmitting in AM

I live in the dusty west (Nevada) and operate old AM transmitters, usually
on 40m or 80m. Ive noticed that I will often have days where I just cant
get any contacts, I assume its because a lot of hams are reluctant to
respond to AMers. Does anybody have any experience working AM/any tips on
how to pull more QSOs? Thanks! submitted by /u/brokedownlogic

Question about direction of UHF Connectors and coax cable if it matters.

https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/twncl9/question_about_direction_of_uhf_connectors_and/
Sorry I’m new to all this and I and I’m kind of confused on the topic if it is even a problem.
Description of planned radio set up Antenna with uhf female (so-239)
connector to uhf male (PL259) than let’s say about 10 feet of coax cable
then on the end of that a uhf female (so-239) to uhf male (PL259) to the
radio
FEMALE TO MALE TO COAX CABLE TO FAMALE TO MALE TO RADIO
Or Antenna with uhf female (so-239) connector to uhf male (PL259) than let’s say about 10 feet of coax cable then on the end of that a uhf male (PL259) connector then and uhf female (so-239) connector to the radio
FEMALE TO MALE TO COAX CABLE TO MALE TO FEMALE TO RADIO
Sorry if I’m overthinking this it doesn’t matter i’m direction of connectors.
