Whats the best free app for practicing to copy Morse code punctuation only?
Ive downloaded several apps from the Google Play Store but I havent found
what Im looking for. I know there are free apps that let you select
specific letters, numbers, and characters to practice on, but I dont know
what new apps are out there nowadays.
Please dont reply with info about how to learn code. I learned and used it since 1990. Thanks. submitted by /u/ZephyrNYC

Ft 60; Anyone elses Antenna port not even/ level

Recently got ft 60 and just took the rubber duck off and realized that the antenna port is slightly leaning to the right when looking at the front of
the radio. And after putting the signalstuffplastic spacer on the radio
then put the antenna it definitely is off level by a few millimeters?
Anyone else have this issue? submitted by /u/SirJacobtheGreat

Pedestrian-mobile advice
Posted: 26 May 2022 01:15 PM PDT
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/uygfzc/pedestrianmobile_advice/
Hi there, i need some advice from you guys.I have a military HF manpack
radio, PRC515 (RU 20) and i tried to use it pedestrian-mobile with the 2.4M whip antenna and 20W power on SSB mode. I tried it on 40m and 20m. The reception is good, i can hear a lot of stations, but the TX is terrible, no
one can hear me. I also use a counterpoise (5m wire dragging behind me connected to the radio ground terminal). The terrain where i use it his
hilly, its in Bavaria, Germany. Should i try at at 10m band? What advice
can you give to improve the TX of the station?I have seen people getting contacts on 20m with military HF man-packs and whip antennas that have
similar characteristics with no problems (like the PRC 320, for example),
and i dont understand why its not working for me. I know everything is fine with the radio itself. With the dipole connected, i can get contacts easily with no problems. And the whip antenna circuit also works fine, because i tested it with ground propagation on a distance of 8 kilometers and it
worked flawlessly, but i cant reach anyone whos more than 10km away. Here
are some pics of the setup in action. And a video :)

Supports for EFHW

I have an EFHW that Im planning to use when I can finally set up my shack
in a spare bedroom (Im waiting for a relative to come get their stuff out
of there) . I live in a rental so a permanent mount really isnt ideal, and
I would also prefer to not use a tree. In other words, I need a setup that
I can put up, perhaps for a couple of days, and takedown when I wont be
using it. What works best for supporting the antenna? Ive considered
fiberglass poles but Im also not sure which ones would be best. What about
PVC? Im open to any and all suggestions, tutorials, etc. Thanks very much.

Origin of national callsign prefixes?
Posted: 26 May 2022 01:13 PM PDT
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/uygeyv/origin_of_national_callsign_prefixes/
Im studying for my certificate and it struck me how some countries use
somewhat expected prefixes e.g. Ireland/EI, Deutschland/DL and EspaƱa/EA. While others are completely unexpected, e.g. Denmark/OZ, Belgium/ON,
Norway/LA and Portugal/CT.
Im sure this is due to historical reasons but I havent been able to find
any explanation of how it all came to be this way. For example, how come France, Italy and Austria got prefixes (series) that are related to the
country names but Canada, Denmark and Portugal did not?
It would be very interesting if anybody can explain how the current
prefixes came to be.
And what about the prefixes beginning with numbers - Im guessing there is another story about them - where can I read up on why and how they came to
be?
Edit: I found this historical summary which was interesting. But it is
still a mystery to me why e.g. Norway, Denmark and Portugal have always
used prefixes that seem completely unrelated to their nation names.

1 antenna, multiple radios?
Posted: 26 May 2022 12:14 PM PDT
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/uyf4lx/1_antenna_multiple_radios/
I am looking at purchasing a discone antenna that covers 2 out of 3
frequency ranges that I already have radios for. Can I connect the antenna
to both radios AND USE BOTH radios at the same time?
I have an SDR, that I want to receive with, an IoT box that will
send/receive; and a base-station that I want to send/receive with. I was thinking that something like a TV coax splitter (1 in - 3 out) style device would work (with the correct resistance).
But I figure Id ask the experts. submitted by /u/pi8b42fkljhbqasd9
