Pardon my ignorance but I'm having issues with my Yaesu FT-50

    Posted: 11 Dec 2021 06:14 PM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/reeo2r/pardon_my_ignorance_but_im_having_issues_with_my/

I am a new operator so bear with me.
Ive been using my FT60 for the last couple months to take part in our local nets but recently it started shutting off when I press the PTT button. It doesnt show a low battery warning so it seems the battery may be bad? Regardless, I plugged in my FT-50 and started using that(its battery is old
but I can operate it while plugged in - bad idea?). Im just having an issue setting the offset for our repeater. The repeater is 146.9(-) with a 151.4 tone. The radio allows me to set the offset but when I get above 0.95 Im
not allowed to save it and I get an error when I press PTT.
Ive looked at the manual but Im not sure what Im doing wrong. Very beginner question but any help would be great. Ive been afraid to change too much in
my HTs, I inherited them from my Grandfather and dont want to cause any problems myself. submitted by /u/turf_life

    Hopefully a fantastic SW antenna

    Posted: 11 Dec 2021 12:43 PM PST https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/re8eet/hopefully_a_fantastic_sw_antenna/

I have what i refer to as a 6m eggbeater antenna (2 6m full wave loops with
1 loop set vertical and the other set horizontal). This allows it to
transmit omnidirectionally on 6m with my icom 7300. I also have a Tecsun
PL-330 SSB that takes a 3.5mm connector for external antennas. So, i bought
an SO-239 to 3.5mm pigtail. I figure an antenna that can receive both horizontal or vertical and the equivilent of 12 of those whip antennas up
25ft in the air ought to make a damn good recieve antenna. submitted by /u/techman246

Bought a HM-151 thinking I'll get DTMF for my 7100. But soon realize I'm dreaming.

Then when I read the description again, it says "remote control MIC".
