Spain - France: Giroud [MH 2] plays 15 minutes,

the last point I will ever get out of him, I assume. Well it has been a
good run. Still second in the all-time FS table.
Who might catch him? Kane perhaps, Mbappe almost certainly. Maybe some
others like Endrick in the distant future.

    does not touch a single
ball, breaks Laporte's [MH 3] nose.

    Is it really broken.

Laporte has been very good. Don't know why Pep suddenly did not like
him, or for that matter why France did not pick him sooner. I would say
he still much better than Upamecano or Konate. Has not suffered from
playing in the Saudi league either.

Not the teamwork one would like to see in one's roster...

So, does the next cycle start on August 1 ?
Which countries are now eligible? Web site says August (but does not
specify date or time) and also says to be determined for the cycle
    specific nations.

    I would think so.

New FIFA rankings will be announced on July 17. In the current ranking,
Belgium is 3rd and Portugal is 6th, with about an 80 point advantage
over Colombia, ranked 12th (Croatia is 9th, but I expect them to fall).
Despite Colombia's good run in the Copa, I think the gap between them
and Portugal may be too large to overcome. So it will probably be
    Belgium and Portugal again.

I know that you're grasping at straws here, but if we really have to go
by stolen trophies, I should probably have at least two more:

    2014: Golden Ball: Messi
Obvious FIFAlona plot to give the award to Messi (who was disgusted by
it and didn't even want it), instead of the best player on the most
dominant and winning team of the tournament (Muller, of course)

    2018: Golden Ball: Modric
Another sentimental pick. It should have gone again to the best player
    on the winning team (Pogba)

Let me remind you that football is a team sport. Therefore, the best individual is the one that makes all the teams he plays for win.

Now, would you care to check who is the only player who won both major trophies (UCL + Euro/Copa) this season?

    Nacho ? Joselu ?

The gap between Portugal (8th) and Colombia (9th) ended up being only 14 points. It's possible that Colombia would have made it had they beaten Argentina in the final.
