Real football is back after that 2 week break for club football. The
hottest teams in club football are Barcelona, Heidenheim and Haaland but
still a lot of games to go. Apparently they start the club football
right after the nations leagues finish?

Not everyone is doing Nationsligas. S AMerica and Asia are doing WC qualifying. Also I dont see Kanada, Mexico or USA playing any CONCACAF Nationsliga games?

UEFA is going full force though, Lots of matches which I think somehow
can get you qualified for the EUROs or possibly even the WC? It is
kinda funny to see Scotland in the UEFA A-liga while England is in the
    B-liga.

CONCACAF and CAF are still only in the qualifying stages of the Nations leagues. I am not sure how it all works for them. But lots of games
between places you have never heard of.

Far too many WC games in ASIA and So America for me to include, but some interesting WC qualifiers.
I wont say Brasil are in danger of not qualifying for the WC, but they
are in the last qualifying spot of the qualifying group close to the
halfway point. Two wins though and things will look different. But
anyhow, the biggest match in WC qualifying is the local derby between
American Samoa and Samoa. Japan v China looks like a good derby as well.

Some exciting scores n results from the Nationsliga qualifying.. At
least i hink it is qualifying for whatever the Nationsliga actually gets
    you?

Anguilla 2 - 0 Turks and Caicos Islands FT
What this result means is that Anguilla is now CONCACAF Champions!!!!!
Congrats to them! I dont know either fo these places cus Sumwing only
flies to Cuba, Jamaica, Dominican or Mexico. Everything else is
CONCACAF is foreign to me, possibly cus I am too poor or too cheap to go
to these other places. Not to mention, I really like Cuba. I have had
great times in Havana with Cubans.

    U.S. Virgin Islands 1 - 3 Bahamas
Oh wait, I think I was in bahamas once? Is that the place where the
Candian fashion designer rapist from Winnipeg lives?

British Virgin Islands 0 - 0 Cayman Islands

No UK broadcasting deal for the Nations League other than for matches
involving the home nations. Apparently the rights are still with
Viaplay, who left the UK market earlier this year. That said, if the
tournament was well regarded enough surely someone would have boaught
the rights from Viaplay? Not even the prize of four World Cup qualifying playoff spots could generate enough interest.

Up here on the Iceberg, DAZN is broadcasting all the matches. DAZN
also has the Champions league rights, but lost the WWEpl rights two
    years ago to FUBO tv.

So as far as UEFA goes, at this moment, the hottest team in the

There was some CONCACAF Nationsliga games, the most interesting being
    Costa Rica 0 - 0 Guadeloupe HT

But also the WC qfs are on with the big Derby match starting at 10 PM
normal time between the Samoans. Which Samoa will make the next WC?????

Bolivia won today at altitude at home 4-0 vs Venezuela

Currently the Argies are up to their dirty tricks and the Chileans are
getting sucked in a bit, but 0-0 at the half. I dont trust the Argie
    coach for Chile.

Argies with most of the play and chances, but the best chance actually
was a Chilean header going off the post late in the half. No Messi for
the Argies and the Chileans have some new faces, they even have an Osorio.

Another heated derby match kicking off in the B division, between
Ireland and England. This may be as big as the Samoan derby, with just

So finally the top match of round 1 between Germany and Hungaria.
Though I have no faith in J_Nag as a manager of any adult team, he at
least picked Wirtz in his starting line up. Though he left Beier on the
bench. He really should be trying out young players like him in these
kind of matches. More or less same average looking starting line up as
in the EUROs. With of course, no more Neuer, so ter Stegen gets the
start. And though I do feel for ter Stegen for never getting a chance
while Neuer was around, I dont think he is the top goalie now either.
But keeper is not the problem with Germany, it is the other 9 players on

The new English approach is to appoint a foreign manager matching the
nationality of the team they are facing for each new match.  We are
expecting Jari Litmannen to be appointed new English manager after
    this match.

They are also incorporating players from the countries they will be

For those who have forgotten, this is re-match of the WM final a few
years back in Switzerland. It is hard to tell watching on TV, but it
looks like it might be Fritz Walter weather today as well.

Germany with more chances and control, Fulkrug with the goal. I think I
would like to see J_nag bring on Beier for Havertz and maybe a couple of youngsters like the Croatian kid in the 2nd half.

Elsewhere, I think the Dutchies and Greeks are leading and Ukrania are
    tied.

    Evan Ferguson plays for Brighton.
There are others with Ipswich, Southampton, Brentford and Leicester. All relegation fodder, I suppose.
Kelleher has been very good for Liverpool when called upon.

    A couple with Celtic.

Nobody playing in any European league that I can think of or find
    evidence of.

They are certainly not the same level as Ireland used to be with players
like Liam Brady, Roy Keane, Robbie Keane, Damien Duff, Andy Townsend,
Jason Mcateer, Paul McGrath, Kevin Sheedy, Ray Houghton and so on
    (though that represents several eras).

seems to score easily in the WWEpl, can not score for Germany unless it
is a PK. For me, he seems to think he is Ozil, but he doesnt have that
kinda skill, he might still improve though. Schlotterbeck, who I like as
a player, is just not really a great defender, but again, maybe he seems
to be learning and improving. Raum had a lot of Raum on the left side
and used it well and he could control the ball. Kimmich is the new
captain and with the departure of Kroos and Muller and Gundogan they are
now a youngish team. If Germany win vs the Dutch on Tuesday, than maybe
    J_Nag should remain.

So Canada won 2-1 vs USA for the first time in ages and J_Mar is a
genius and hero and all of Canada has WC fever with hosting the upcoming WC-except no one really knows about it yet. I watched the 2nd half, on 'merican tv and the commentators were down on there US team. I thought
the USA team were dirty, lots of cheap fouls and late elbows and that
kinda thing. Very poor USA team, they have Pulisic and no one else. On
paper Kanada have a far better team, with better players in almost every position. David may not be the flashiest player, but he is a very
reliable finisher, I even like the Kanadian keeper. Canada play Mexico
in the USA on tuesday. DOnt know why they cant play on the Iceberg, it
    is not winter here yet.

I suppose France v Belgium could be interesting, but they are both
    declining teams.

Haaland score early and it was not even Haaland scoring! But to be fair
Norway have other good players like Odegaard and Sorloth, while his
WWEpl team have no one else but him.

that Austria are too quick and strong and physical for the Haalands.

It seems like the nationsliga just started and yet here we are at the
thrilling conclusion and Final between Germany and Holland. After this
all that is left is going back to club football and the the never ending meaningless games they play week after week.

The thrilling final ended 2-2, but not to worry, there are still more
games to come. I would say the big winner of the Nationsliga is J-Nag,
the team is playing better football, no one missed the departed old guys
and he has a real talent in Wirtz to build a team around. Defensively
they still need to find better players, but the team looks better than

I thought Canada looked the better team, it did end 0-0 but J-Mar did
makes some changes to the line up for this match. Canada just might be
the best team in the Rockingest confederation at the moment. Hell they

Well the greatest league in football is back after a short club football
break. Every continent is playing Nationsliga football. Sure S America
are disguising it as WC qualifiers, but we all know it is really
Nationsliga football. I am not sure when Canada, Mexico and USA join
    the Nationsliga in N America?

In case you forgot, Denmark is leading UEFA Group A, but they do have to
travel to Spain for a game that could change that. IN Group B Greece is
leading but they have to play England, the winner of that match will
    probably lead the B group.

Guadeloupe and ST Martin lead the CONCACAF Nationsliga.

In South America Argentina lead the Group.

Far too many teams in Africa and Asia leagues to decipher who are group leaders.

Well that would be foolish, we are obviously projecting to Greece to win
it. Though credit to Austria for going from last to first in 4 days.
Also we could go one step further and say we now have conclusive
information showing Aurnotivic is a superior Forward to Haaland, but we

As for CONCACAF Nationsliga, the Super Komputer still has not really

that St Vincent and the Grenadines is leading el Salvador. Which is
quite something, cus the SuperKomputer thought St Vincent and the

The TopSpiel today is Germany v Holland. You should never have a Dutch
or English referee for any topsiel! should have been 1-0 for Germany
after 1 minute, but some call only a Dutchman would understand stopped
the goal. I dont know, why they would have the ref cone to the screen
to check offside, if that is why it was called, even though it was not
an offside if the Dutchman ref knew the rules. Anyhow lots of new faces

So we now have a 4-way tie for first place in the UEFA A liga between
Portugal, Italy Germany and Spain. In the B liga Greece sits all alone
    on top with 12 points.

In CONCACAF Nationsliga, we think that Jamaica, Nicaragua and Aruba will
join Canada , USA and Mexico, but we still dont really have any idea how
the CONCACAF Nationsliga works. USA and Mexcio played a friendly
yesterday and even with a new Manager, USA still lost to Mexico 2-0.

After another annoying club football break-they really have to stop
that- UEFANationsliga is back and coming to the end of the liga phase
during the next week. I dont think the playoffs start until next spring.

So in liga A it is wide open with the 4 way tie mentioned before (you
dont really get anything for being the best team all around or even in
each group. the top two teams go through to the play offs) Group II
looks the most interesting, with a tight battle between Italy and
France, but none of the other groups have been decided yet either as far
as first place goes, or second for that matter, but I will tell you we
have already projected Portugal, Kroatia, Italy, France, Germany,
Holland, Spain and Denmark to go through to the next round.

Denmark v Spain is the big match this week.

Top spot in Group B is Greece at the moment, but they play England and depending on scores and results it could all change. AS far as I know
you have to win your group in the B liga to advance to the A liga, there
    is no play offs.
Greece v England is the top match this week. THough Turkei v Wales could
mean something as far as Liga status goes next season.

As for the C liga, we are projecting North Macedonia to move to the B
liga next season. N Irealnd vs Belarus is the top C match.

In Group D,we are not sure if they actually get to move to Group C if
they win the group, there might be a play off for that?

If I understand the UEFA Nationsl liga correctly, you are almost better
off being in a lower liga as far as getting qualifying spots to WOrld
    and EURO Cups and such.

AS for Concacafliga, nobody to this day has yet to figure out how it
works or when Mexico, Kanada and USA join the liga? Or maybe they dont.
maybe they are just going to make a SUPERCONCACAF liga?

In Conembloliga everything is back to normal, well back to normal if you
think Brazil is a a third ranked team. Interesting match for them vs
Venezuela coming up Thursday. We are already Projecting that Chile is eliminated.

In the ASIAliga, we would think that Australia needs a couple of wins to
get promoted to get a chance to pay in the World Cup.

In the Afrikaliga, it is still too early to make any projections, no
real upsets showing up yet though.

I dont think this will change, though France seems to be losing points
in swing states. We are declaring Spain the Kings of the A-liga

Denmark v Spain is the big match this week.
Spain went ahead 2-0, Danes got one back, but with out Bendtner they
    were never gonna win.

If I understand correctly, everyone now gets a chance to make the A
liga. England with an easy win over Greece. Turkei v Wales is the match
of the day today, if they win they become B-liga champions.

In A liga Wirtz may play today, otherwise we project a Germany loss,
but they are so far ahead they will finish top 2.
In C-liga Rumania is now top of the pack

OK, so there is now movement of the "Big 3" except that Mexico lost 2-0
to Honduras, so maybe they are not really a Big 3? Canada beat Suriname
1-0 and Usa beat Jamaica 1-0. I think these are the first legs of home
and away knock out matches Though I have no way of substantiating that.
I do know Kanada play Suriname on Tuesday in TO, which should be fairly
mild. THis is like a last week of summer here on the Iceberg, in fact I
am on my way to the cottage this morning to enjoy the last day of summer
    here.

In Conembloliga everything is back to normal, well back to normal if you think Brazil is a a third ranked team.  Interesting match for them vs Venezuela  coming up Thursday.  We are already Projecting that Chile is eliminated.
Some interesting results, but things more or less the same at the top.
Chile now solidly in last place.

In the ASIAliga, we would think that Australia needs a couple of wins to
get promoted to get a chance to pay in the World Cup.
That may not be true, it seems that the 4 top teams go on to another
round? Once again we have no way of knowing if this is the actual format.

In the Afrikaliga, it is still too early to make any projections, no
real upsets showing up yet though.

The only thing we can safely predict is Morrocco winning their group.

More thrilling liga matches today, so many matches I can not keep up
    with all these Nationligas!

Mexico 2-0. They shoulda kept Kilinsmann.  How do these clowns like

In S America Chile is done, I thought there might be some new good

Scotland beat Croatia 1-0 in Glasgow, to move into a tie for last place
with Poland in their group (which Portugal has won). Croatia may be the
only respectable team against whom Scotland still have a positive record (3-3-2). Croatia had a player sent off for a second yellow that was
harsh. Young Ben Doak had a good game down the right wing, embarassing Gvardiol more than once, and providing the impetus from which sub McGinn scored.

A win away to Poland (unlikely) would move the Scots into 3rd, which
would mean a playoff against a B league second place team. There is a
remote chance of a Scottish second place finish if Croatia, sans the
suspended Modric, really blow it vs. Portugal in their last game, which
    is at home.

As for Canada it was a pretty weak performance. No Davies, who is too
tired or stressed. Cornelius injured so Joel Waterman (Montreal, and
formerly of Cavalry FC, the newly crowned CPL champs) got a runout as a
central defender, and looked a bit uncomfortable. Liam Miller, whom
MArsch seems to like, is out for the season. Anyway Suriname were
pretty big and physical, and carried some threat through Sheraldo
Becker. They did hit the crossbar in the second half from one of their
2 corners in the game. Canada should have scored in the first half
through Ahmed and Tani Oluwaseyi, on high xG chances (the latter hit
both posts with his shot). Subs included Osorio, Hoilett (back after a hiatus), and Tajon Buchanan (back after a broken leg - hope Inter loans
him out so he gets some gamme time). Hoilett scored the late winner on
a onetimer from a great set-up from J. David. Only players who actually
had good games were David, Eustaquio for about 45 minutes, and Moise
Bombito who is improving rapidly and now a fixture for Nice.

Saw the Mexican game too, and the stadium in San Pedro Sula was a pretty
wild place. Mexico have a poor record there I think which is why the
Hondurans seem to prefer that location to Tegucigalpa (higher altitude,
less humid ?) - it was raining and hot. Two goals by sub Luis Palma,
both very good, saw the Hondurans win a hotly contested game. Not
necessarily the end of the road for Mexico, though since they have come
back from similar deficits before when playing at home.

Ghana have failed to qualify for the African Cup of nations!

And we have an eria derby this week. Algeria are playing Liberia. If you
can have burg derbies and heim derbies in Germany, I don't see why
Africa can't have eria derbies. :-)

    Oh and Comoros have qualified!

I suppose there was some excitement in the Croatia Scotland group, but
the reality is it was as bad as club football. Worst Nationsliga ever!

I suppose there was some excitement in the Croatia Scotland group, but
the reality is it was as bad as club football.  Worst Nationsliga ever!

On the contrary, it was nerve-wrecking. To get Austria into Pot 1 for
the World Cup qualifiers it was necessary for neither of Serbia and
Scotland to qualify for the Nations League quarterfinals, and both sets
of matches went down to the wire.

All's well that ends well though, we do say thank you to Jesper's lads.

Does anyone know why Serbia didn't play this hugely decisive match in Belgrade instead of a small city in the middle of nowhere?

If results as they are right now stand (which I expect they won't),
Wales and Czechia would be promoted, and Ukraine and Turkey would join
Austria and Greece in a fairly formidable groups of League B runners-up
to take on the likes of Scotland, Belgium, Hungary and Serbia.

    Ciao,
    Werner

Turkei throwing away promotion to the A-liga against the last place
team-though like with everything else in these Nationsligas, there is
always some other way of advancing. So maybe the 2nd place teams do
have a play off of some sort?

Hungaria v Germania ends 1-1 with an added time PK for Hungaria. Once
again, one of theses terrible English hand ball calls. Robin Koch is
pulling his arm into his body and turning his body away from the ball
that was kicked about a metre away from him, but it still hits his arm.
so this English ref or whatever he is gives the PK. These English hand
ball calls are making me crazy. There really is no understanding by the VARobots or the humans.

So that is it for UEFA Nationsliga. Nobody really knows how the next
rounds work, but as far as I know, everyone gets promoted or at least
gets a chance to get promoted.

Canada play tonight vs Suriname, but Brazil v Uruguay is on at the same
time and is probably the better watch. later in the night Mexico will
try to come back from 2-0 down vs Honduras.
