    AFAIK the eternal-september nntp servers are based in Germany so
    at a guess I'd say not hurricane related... well, not at their
    end anyway!

    The newsgroups "eternal-september.support" and
    "eternal-september.talk" would usually give an indication of
    any issues with the service... but a back-up news service is
    always a good idea.

    Since the google groups shutdown i transitioned to Nova BBS and it works
    fine. Basic at the moment, compared to google, but a good alternative.
    The more people use it the more it will improve.
