The last I read there was still some doubt about exactly when,
but most likely he'll start the job in June.
Will this be a success?

And it did turn around indeed!
It's official. Welcome, Carleto!
Tchau!

I guess I should buy a hat and proceed to eat it now. Not for a
moment I believed they'd actually pull this one off.
Ancelotti will already be there for the Ecuador and Paraguay
qualifiers in June, so his first call-up list should be coming up
soon enough.
He's also lucky that, this time around, Ecuador decided to hold their
game against us in Guayaquil instead of Quito. A debut in the
altitude would be quite the "welcome to South America" moment to our
brand new European manager :-) There's Bolivia in Round 18 too, but
if things are already settled by then maybe he gets to escape La Paz
or El Alto as well.
(unlikely, though, as Bolivia will probably be gunning for the
playoffs)
Well, he does indeed look like the best choice, his history speaks
for itself, with the one caveat that he never managed a national team
before, which is quite a different challenge than managing a club
team.
I don't think Brasil comes to 2026 as a serious title
challenger, the players will probably be more or less the same as
now, but if he gets them to actually play football... well, that's a
start and there's where his predecessors have failed. We'll see what
happens.
But then, we'll very much want an NT world title to add to his already impressive collection of club trophies.
