• Dates for international tournaments Summer 2025

From Mark@21:1/5 to All on Sun May 25 19:35:08 2025
I haven't got much to do this afternoon, so I thought I'd compile a list
of the tournaments being played this Summer, with the dates, for quick reference:

    CONCACAF Gold Cup
Host countries Canada, United States (I think only 1 match is being
    played in Canada though)
    Dates June 14 – July 6

    Club World Cup
    Host country United States
    Dates June 14 – July 13

    Women's European Championship
    Host country Switzerland
    Dates 2–27 July 2025

    Women's African Cup of Nations
    Host country Morocco
    Dates 5–26 July 2025

    Copa América Femenina
    Host country Ecuador
    Dates 12 July – 2 August

What are the Women's European Championship and the Women's African Cup
of Nations actually called? Wikipedia calls them the UEFA Women's
Championship or something and the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, without
the n at the end of the word African. Women's European Championship (or European Women's Championship) and Women's African Cup of Nations makes
    more sense though.

Anyway I hope that's useful for someone.

    Thanks.

The Club World Cup in its new expanded format should be interesting.

Marginally less meaningless than it was, but still fairly
pointless in the big scheme of things. It's just a money making
exercise for FIFA. After a tough domestic seasons the players
    should be on holiday...

I think it's more meaningless. Given the possibility of fixture
congestion, I think the formats they used from 2000-2023 were OK.
(Roughly) equal number of teams from each continent; the winners had a legitimate claim to be the best team in the World. The only major
problem was that the runners-up couldn't claim to be the 2nd best team
    in the world.

The new format, which could be interesting, I think I agree with Real
Mardin to some extent there, is totally unfair. There's too many
European teams, not enough Oceanian teams, yes it's probably just a
    money making exercise for FIFA.

There's usually been too many European teams and not enough Oceanian
teams in the (national team) World Cup too actually though; so I'm not
sure that I'm not being inconsistent. Or is that not FIFA being money
    greedy? Maybe that's different?
