Two Top 25 college football teams lost their bowl game on Saturday, and
one was set to return home via a Southwest jet.

The No. 13 Miami Hurricanes lost by one point to the No. 18 Iowa State Cyclones in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. Both Miami and Iowa State were in the
College Football Playoff chase in late November.

Meanwhile, the Colorado Buffaloes were in the CFP hunt in November. A 37-
21 setback against Kansas at Arrowhead Stadium on Nov. 23 meant that the
team needed help to make the Big 12 championship.

Unfortunately for Colorado, BYU's 30-18 win over Houston on Nov. 30 would keep the Buffaloes from playing for an automatic berth in the CFP via a conference championship win.

Colorado safety Shilo Sanders said earlier this week that the Buffs needed
to make the Cougars pay for their win over Houston.

Instead, BYU handed the Buffaloes their fourth loss in the Valero Alamo
Bowl. (Colorado remains winless in the Alamo Bowl.)

Despite Colorado playing expected 2025 first-round picks Shedeur Sanders
and Heisman Trophy-winner Travis Hunter, BYU dominated the Buffs in front
of 64,261 fans in the Alamodome in San Antonio.

The Cougars took a 20-0 lead into halftime. Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders vowed to have his team play better in the second half, but BYU
would outscore Colorado 16-14 in the second half en route to a 36-14 win.

Shedeur Sanders struggled against the BYU defense, throwing for 208 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the final college game of his
    career.

Hunter was a bright spot for Colorado, catching four passes for 106 yards
and a touchdown. He added four tackles on defense. Shilo Sanders was the team's leading tackler with eight tackles.

BYU outgained Colorado 331-210 in total yards.

The Cougars improved to 11-2 with the win, while the Buffs fell to 9-4 for 2024.

Per ESPN BET, Colorado entered Saturday night's contest as 2.5-point favorites to beat BYU.

Following the blowout loss, fans on social media called the Buffs
    "frauds"
    for their lackluster performance.
