Main reason it didn’t work in Virginia is that Youngkin ran away from Trump. Most of the GOP doesn’t seem to have learned that lesson, so I wouldn’t underestimate its effectiveness in future races. However what Dem campaigns need to learn is that it’s a tool, but an all-purpose tool and not the only one in the toolbox.
