• Now that the bowls have been announced...

From The NOTBCS Guy@21:1/5 to All on Sun Dec 4 13:44:27 2022
Which of these teams in an ESPN Events-owned bowl is going to suddenly withdraw so ESPN can send Auburn in its place:

Air Force - Baylor (Armed Forces Bowl)
Alabama-Birmingham - Miami Ohio (Bahamas Bowl)
Coastal Carolina - East Carolona (Birmingham Bowl)
Liberty - Toledo (Boca Raton Bowl)
Buffalo - Georgia Southern (Camellia Bowl)
Texas-San Antonio - Troy (Cure Bowl)
    Cincinnati - Louisville (Fenway Bowl)
Memphis - Utah State (First Responder Bowl)
Boise State - North Texas (Frisco Bowl)
Middle Tennessee State - San Diego State (Hawai’i Bowl)
Eastern Michigan - San Jose State (Idaho Potato Bowl)
Connecticut - Marshall (Myrtle Beach Bowl)
BYU - SMU (New Mexico Bowl)

I left out the Gasparilla, Las Vegas, and Texas bowls as they already have an SEC team, and I don't think ESPN wants either an all-SEC bowl or replacing a bowl-eligible SEC team with a 5-7 one.

Already talking about it and blaming the transfer portal.

I’m sorry I must have missed it in your poast or maybe you forgot to list
it, but which bowl are the Hokies in? TIA.

I think they're in the "La-Z-Boy Sit Back And Watch Other Schools Lose Money On Low-Level Bowl Games Bowl" against either Northwestern or Cal.

Speaking of Hokies...I wonder why New Mexico State didn't ask to play them instead of Valparaiso?

Actually, New Mexico State did ask to play Virginia Tech. They tried these FBS schools, who all said no, before scheduling Valparaiso:

    Nevada
    Wyoming
    Virginia Tech
    James Madison

I knew about Nevada and Wyoming, who would have been allowed to play a 13th game, but not about the other two (I know JMU only scheduled 11).

I suspect by that point the Hokies just wanted the season to be over.
