    Please tell me I’m not the only one seeing that this movie is basically a ripoff of Star Wars: A New Hope.

    Yeah, I get the why Maverick is loved. It's a generally a pro-American island in
    a sea of woke BS and I'm probably just inside the target demographic for it, but man the jets and bombs didn't make-up for that crap story.

    The flying was awesome but yeah the story sucked. Besides the obvious
    ripoff of the Death Star bombing run: if we could use Tomahawk missiles to take out the enemy airfield, why couldn’t we also use them to take out the Uranium plant?

    Yes, if by first, you mean the first one made/released. They added "Episode IV / A NEW HOPE" when they decided that the entire saga would be nine movies.
