From Carbon@21:1/5 to All on Thu Mar 30 19:28:18 2023
Mr. Trump will be the first former president to face criminal
charges. The precise charges are not yet known, but the case is
focused on a hush-money payment to a porn star during his 2016
    campaign.

The charges have not been unsealed, so folks like Dershowitz can’t legitimately
    claim anything on merits.

But there are some leaks, which might be interesting. One example is that in addition to the charge related to paying hush money to Stormy Daniels, Trump is reportedly also going to indicted with 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Needless to say, if a jury finds business records were falsified with the intent
    to conceal a crime, that’s a felony.

In the meantime, with DeSantis claiming he will direct FL to refuse extradition,
sounds like the NY DA should request the Judge to order Trump to stay in NY (flight risk, etc), arguing that it isn’t a burden because he owns a residence in
Trump Tower that he can readily use.

    Time will tell.

I'm not an expert in financial crimes, but 34 indictments suggests
to me that the scope of the investigation has exceeded the Stormy
Daniels payoff and related crimes. We'll find out pretty soon either
    way.

I honestly can't think of Ron DeSantis without remembering how
thoroughly he was humiliated by Disney's lawyers. He is a clown and
his grandstanding over Trump's indictment will be similarly
    ineffective.

You said it all with "I'm not an expert." A "count" may be nothing more than a ledger entry. I expect this indictment to turn into a major embarrassment for the Dims. Remember, they gloated over the Russian collusion hoax, Impeachment #1 and Impeachment #
2, all of which turned up exactly NOTHING.

You libtards have apparently forgotten that John Edwards was indicted for far more serious charges of this ilk, and all charges ended up being dropped. What makes Trump MORE GUILTY than Edwards?

Fortunately, the extradition question proved moot as Trump went to NYC voluntarily.
But DeSantis's threat to deny extradition show how ignorant he is. The Constitution
requires states to comply with other states' extradition requests. https://constitutionallawreporter.com/extradition-clause/
