• OT: Total non-STUNNER: Trump is guilty!

From Alan@21:1/5 to All on Tue Sep 26 17:17:30 2023
    OK...liable:

'A New York judge has found Donald Trump and his adult sons liable for
fraud, saying the Trumps provided false financial statements for roughly
    a decade.

Judge Arthur Engoron’s ruling came days before the civil case involving
the New York attorney general’s office and the former president was set
    to go to trial.'

'In the order, the judge rejected Trump’s deposition testimony in which
the former president said that the financial statements were not
fraudulent because they contained disclaimers. Trump said the statements contained a “worthless clause” in them warning lenders and others that
    they shouldn’t be relied on.

Tuesday, the judge said that “the defendants’ reliance on these ‘worthless’ disclaimers is worthless.”

The ruling means the attorney general’s office won on its first two
claims and will receive some amount of disgorgement to be determined at
trial. The case will still proceed to trial but the attorney general’s
office won’t need to prove the financial statements are false as they
seek to hold him and his sons liable for insurance fraud and false
    business records.'

This is a big, big deal. Trump will appeal, of course, but his reliance on mall lawyers has done him real damage this time. Trump lawyer Alina Habba, who somehow passed the NY Bar exam, forgot to file paperwork within the allotted time to choose a jury
trial. Because there is overwhelming evidence of guilt, Trump's only hope was to get a true believer on the jury who would refuse to convict. But thanks to Ms Habba Trump and company were at the mercy of Judge Arthur Engoron, a strict, by-the-book judge
who takes no shit from anyone.

There will be details to be worked out along with the inevitable appeals, but Trump is toast.

LOL! All of the organizations involved are VERY EXPERIENCED lenders who know just A BIT MORE about valuating properties than this judge or you idiot libtards. Do you assholes REALLY think they DID NOT do their due diligence in evaluating the risks
    involved, REALLY???

So you're saying that Trump's valuations were accurate?

He bought Mar-a-Lago for $10 million...

...and you think that $1 BILLION is a fair valuation?

And on his 2020 taxes claimed it was worth just $28M (and losing $3M/yr).
