• Holy crap, Google killed text Usenet

From The Ghost of RSP-W Past@21:1/5 to All on Fri Nov 29 23:46:34 2024
Buying the DejaNews rug then yanking it years after establishment really destroyed this medium. Even though no one should rely on a web interface
to interact with Usenet, it was so easy and convenient that every single
RSP-W luminary from Chad Bryant to John Henry to Alex Cain, and the JTTS
guys like P-Dub, Jason Todd, and Robby, and pretty much all of the jobber posters used it. Now it's gone and so are they and it's just the dudes who
got drawn in by crossposting to alt.slack and AUK who make posts here from
    time to time.

Google also clearly altered their Usenet spam filtering immediately prior
to making the decision to kill Usenet in a ham-handed false flag operation
but I don't want to get off on a rant or anything.
