    It isn't an either or. Sure we need to plant more trees and otherwise
    work at fighting global warming.

    Scientific research is an investment with positive returns. We could
    be spending more and making more. And money invested in climate change mitigation reduces the costs we will incur in the future, so also
    needs to be viewed as a positive investment, where the more we spend
    now, the greater our returns.

    And it's not like we don't have the public resources to make those
    investments.

    invented money. So the fact that money _is_ an invention doesn't mean
    it's... less real.
