• where can I get one of these CHEAP or can I substitute something that w

    I was replacing a small AC motor with a blade (Acme BB-700) and the
    compression ring went flying when trying to transfer the fan blade to
    the new motor and I have been unable to find it. Similar to this:

    https://www.amazon.com/GE-WR02X12149-Refrigerator-Ring/dp/B00MNMT7XO

    The shaft is 3/16" but the ring is obviously larger and compresses the
    plastic of the notched fan blade once over the shaft like this:

    https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41VeJEwW4NL._SL1000_.jpg

    $6+ for one of these rings seems outlandish. Where can I find one at a
    far more reasonable price, or is there something else I can substitute
    to keep the blade on the shaft? Someone once suggested a small hose
    clamp, but another individual said that the side where the clamp is
    tightened, being unbalanced because it weighs more then the opposite
    side, over time would ruin the motor.

    Thanks in advance.

    As these parts are not rotationally symmetrical, could this result in
    an imbalance?

    As a precaution, I can use a small dremel to cut off the protrusions so
    it will function exactly like the original part.

    I use such hose clamps for fuel lines in small engines (chain saws and
    gasoline powered garden tools). If I'm not certain about the size,
    the clamps are cheap enough that I usually buy an assortment. For
    example:
    <https://www.ebay.com/itm/316584035352>
    <https://www.ebay.com/itm/183502156642>
    <https://www.ebay.com/itm/145684039766>
    etc. Notice that they come in both metric and imperial diameters.

    If there is room, you could stack two of those with
    the tabs 180 degrees apart like this:

    .....tab
    =====RRR|RRR===
    .........tab

    Ignore the ... (they're) for spacing
    RRR is the ring portion of the clamp.

    That might be easier than dremeling the tabs off.

    Whether its even worth considering the imbalance with
    a single Corbin clamp is debateable.
