• speaking of colors...

From john larkin@21:1/5 to All on Sun May 18 15:43:06 2025
    Colors are so faddish.

Cars used to come in colors. Having my hair done today, looking out
the window up at Twin Peaks, I counted 41 cars on a row that were
black, white, or grey, then one blue one to break the run. I have seen
a few new cars that have color, if mostly muted muddy ones or grey
    with a hint of color.

Houses around here for about 10 years now have all been painted grey
or some even black. Some old gingerbread victorians with doodads and
gold leaf were painted over in dark monotones. Just lately I see a lot
    of pale grey-green.

Electronics used to be grey or black krinkle finish. Tektronix changed
the style to light anodize with etched color-filled legends. Then we
had pastels. Lately the style in electronic instruments is black.

Good ideas are fine, if a little harder to find than some people seem to
    think.

Is there a European standard for scope trace colors? They have rules
    for everything else.

I can easily find my blazing red Audi in a parking lot. I'm grateful

Some URLs are absurd, and one may not know how silly until they are word-wrapped.

Cars used to come in colors. Having my hair done today, looking out

if you pick a stand out color some will hate it, a "boring"
white/grey/black is worth because most people can live with that

I can easily find my blazing red Audi in a parking lot. I'm grateful

Up until about 2023 the Dodge Ram "Classic" was one of the last vehicles
you could get from the factory in about 15 different "low volume" paints
like e.g. Safety Yellow and Hunter Green, ostensibly so business
customers could order one congruent with their corporate scheme

You copy paste the data:image/... URL into firefox and it displays a
    tiny photo. :-)

    Cute.

Houses around here for about 10 years now have all been painted grey
or some even black. Some old gingerbread victorians with doodads and
gold leaf were painted over in dark monotones. Just lately I see a lot
    of pale grey-green.

Electronics used to be grey or black krinkle finish. Tektronix changed
the style to light anodize with etched color-filled legends. Then we
had pastels. Lately the style in electronic instruments is black.

    Ugly.

See some youtube video's of Sjanghai. The colours are dazzling,

Waste of money. Their narcotics and crap products do the job nicely.
