I've recently purchased an Owon VDS1022i usb oscilloscope and am
both impressed and frequently bewildered by it. For the most part
it seems to be quite good within its technical limits. The computer
based user interface is more than a little baffling, since I'm still
stuck in the Tektronix 500-series mindset 8-)
One feature that looks new and interesting is record mode, which
writes data to the computer's storage and seemingly sidesteps the
1022i's very limited sample length. Potentially measurements could
run for hours, or so I hope. There are two parameters that can be
set in the record setup: interval time and frame numbers.
The manual describes how to capture a record, but not much more
that I can make out. In particular, the relationship between interval,
frame number and sampling rate isn't obvious. Neither is the data
format used in the saved file.
For example, can anybody give a hint how I might record a battery
voltage curve during charge and discharge over a period of a few
hours?
So far I've been using the Linux UI developed by florentbr on GitHub.
If it helps I do have a Windows 10 machine available to try.
