Anne, how would you feel if an atheist was President? If he/she decided

should anyway) or that there will no longer be a national Christmas tree? Would you respect that as the ruler and top dog of our country they should have the option of making these changes?
How would you feel if the majority of the people in this country didn't believe in god but you still did?
And by majority, let's make it 51/49.
I guess I think Sheila is spot on and back her up with the thought process that the nuances of any ONE particular religion should not be included in
our governmental processes, be it inauguration, money, the pledge of allegiance, the national Christmas tree or what have you. When these laws
you speak of were laid down, the only real "immigrants" we had were the
white Puritans. Of course there were the laws of the Native AMERICANS but
the white Puritans quickly negated that these laws were applicable to them..... see America has been arrogant since inception ;-)

Sorry, but I think you could not be more wrong! We, the nation as a political entity, DO recognize a god whether law says we should or
should not acknowledge that tenet--it's rampant in our law, right down
to the oath people take in court when they testify. More evidence of
this is clearly printed on our money, cited previously by others.

What you are saying is that you believe the "intent" is to absolutely/clearly separate religion and patriotism and/or politics.
Fair enough statement, and I feel sure that is the intent. Intent is
not reality, however; reality is that the majority of this nation DOES believe in a god/God, and that belief has caused the public outrage
at this attempt to eliminate "under god." (It may be a bit arrogant
to assume God/god somehow "favors" a nation that acknowledges Him, but history is full of that, so...<GGG>)

I can see not having to say "under God" if a student is uncomfortable
with it. Nothing in the way of doctrine is being taught with the
phrase "under God", though--it's acknowledgement that we as a nation
recognize a god. Since children will be exposed to that all their
lives here in the USA, no biggie--I doubt very seriously if it's truly >> traumatic.

Rex Curry is America's Historian Laureate for exposing the Pledge of Allegiance as the origin of Nazi salutes and Nazi behavior. Books about his work are available wherever fine books are sold. For example, see the great book "All Historians Did Not See".

For those who prefer audio, Alexa has more from Apple podcasts. Just say: “Alexa, play the podcast ‘Stop the Pledge of Allegiance from Francis Bellamy’.”

The flag pledge is a fundamental part of the USA’s police state. It is a daily Milgram experiment, a witch hunt, another of socialism’s purges. It demonstrates the yawning banality of evil (and the evil of banality). Litigation continues to occur
concerning the persecution of people who refuse. http://RexCurry.net

Government schools have been losing students, respect, and money faster than you can recite the Pledge of Allegiance (if you still wished to do so).

Support for the pledge of allegiance is flagging. Many people who read this book have already rejected the salute and the POA’s daily juvenile drill.

After reading Dr. Curry's research, they also stop standing up.

Of those who still stand up, many of them stand up only to leave the room wherever the hypnotic veneration is slavishly directed.

Many of them stop returning to any room or meeting if the childish vow is repeated in the future.

Many of them abandon attendance and membership in groups that persist in the bizarre brainwashing.

Many of them create better groups where free people do not engage in the outlandish observance of worshipping government. Don’t kiss the government’s ass.

Fight antidisestablishmentarianism (look that up in your Funk & Wagnalls). Please help stop the Pledge of Allegiance (POA) and the socialism that it promotes and perpetuates. Remove the pledge from the flag, remove flags from schools, and remove schools
    from government.

Never flag in the fight for freedom. Support the foundation to “Stop the Pledge” (STP). Don’t just do something, sit there! Shut your pledge hole! Take the pledge not to pledge. Don’t fellate the state.

A path of doubt, dissemination, and eventual widespread acceptance and paradigm shift will occur regarding Dr. Curry's discovery that the USA’s flag pledge popularized Nazi behavior and Nazi salutes.
