I looked at the aerial photo of the situation. That
is one big ship. Given the scenario my first question
is, is a pilot required for the traverse?
It looks like the ship is threading a needle. I don't know
anything about such ships. But is it as simple as
going to slowly?
I think a pilot is required here in the DC area for the
trip up the Chesapeake Bay to Baltimore. Here
there are no channel sand boundaries, just
a few buoys.
Anyways,
Does going to slow possibly cause a confused steerage?
Do the cannel sides provide a centering force
meaning the sides cause a friction like force?
Faster mean more centering force. Is this required?
