The Atomic bomb has and always been an 'offensive' weapon.
Actually it's the one weapon the losing side would use to change the inevitable outcome (it's an act of desperation).
The user is saying that the only thing worse than destroying the planet
and our own death is to surrender and be forced into slavery by our enemy.
Slavery is a sin of it's own.
It's not as serious as atomic bombs or destroying the planet, but still
very serious.
So: people involved in slavery are criminal scum.
Destroying the planet is worse, but not much.
