"The cropped photo had misrepresented the event; the crowd were lining

This is a well known item of Einstein-bashing lore. [1]
It is based on a misunderstanding of perspective.
The photograph is taken from ahaed, against the traffic direction,
with a fairly long focal length camera.
(mild telephoto, we would say nowadays)
Look at the relative sze of the next car,
and at the buildings in the distance.

It is obvious that the spectators will be looking at the next car,
for to them Einstein's car is already past.
There can be no question of 'cropping to deceive',
for in the cropped picture it is also completey obvious
that the people on the sidewalk are not looking at Einstein,

Well, not all protestants did that, especially not the Nazis.

    Nowadays, perhaps.
Before WWII all kinds of christians, catholics and protestants,
    were anti-semites, in majority.
The text of "Mein Kampf" on Jews goes straight back to Luther.

Anyway, the reason Einstein agreed to go to the USA in 1921 on a tour
was not promoting zionism in general.
It was fund raising for establishing a university at Jerusalem.

In Einstein's words: 'It is important to me that there should be
at least one university in the world
    that doesn't discriminate against Jews'.
If not barred completely there were quota,
    known as a 'numeris fixus'.

    Luther wasn't a protestant!

(Same problem with Mohamed, who wasn't a Muslim and Jesus, who wasn't a Christian.)

    Luther was a Catholic!

    Btw:

as far as I can say: the text 'Mein Kampf' goes back to a British
pamphlet called 'My Struggle' and wasn't written by Hitler.

The German version called 'Mein Kampf' seemed to be a rather bad
translation of a text, which was originally written in English.

This sound a little far fetched. But I had conducted extensive studies
upon this strange topic and wrote quite a lot of articles for the UseNet
    about this.

I came for some odd reason to that topic, but as a German I can - of
    course- read the German version.

And as I can speak also English relatively good, I'm actually able to
    compare both versions.

And you take my word for it:

the version of 'Paternoster Library' of ~1930 seems to be the real
    source of that book.

(Why the British have actually printed it is beyond me. But apparently
they also wanted a 'piece of the pie').

This was translated into German by Hess and his coworkers in Landsberg 'prison'.

But the German version is really bad in terms of linguistic qualities,
    while the English isn't.

(The German in the German version is so bad, that it is almost
impossible to read more than a few pages.)

Here is a quote from Wikipedia about Martin Luther:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_Saint_Augustine
(this was the order, to which Marin Luther belonged)

    Quote:

"The Order of Saint Augustine (Latin: Ordo Fratrum Sancti Augustini), abbreviated OSA, is a mendicant religious order of the Catholic Church. "

Actually he got kicked out of the Catholic church, but still he wasn't 'Evangelisch' after that, because that church didn't exist at that time.

Sure, he had some issues with the pope. But this wouldn't make him an
    atheist or a protestant.

As far as I can say, Luther remained a true believer of the Catholic
faith for all of his life, even after excommunication.

Of course not, he became the first Lutheran,

Well, ok, Luther was 'Lutheran' from birth.

But at that time there was no such church called 'Lutherans' to which
    Luther himself could possibly convert.

As far as this is known, he remained a true believer in what was
    Christianity in that era.

He actually didn't want to leave the catholic church, but wanted to
    reform that church.

Actually he did just that, but the Pope didn't like his reforms.
Therefore Luther got kicked out of the Catholic church.

But that didn't change his believes or made him a protestant.
