Jeremiah 50:17
Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away:
first the king of Assyria hath devoured him;
and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.

We see that the plans of the LORD for Israel were "to prosper them,
and not to harm them, to give them a hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11).
These words come before a bloody war with Babylon empire, which
Jeremiah foretold they will lose unless they repent and return to the LORD,
and to the Covenant of the Law.
Until we return to the LORD, He might allow blow after blow, but we
are "not destroyed", as apostle Paul said. We will never be tempted
above our means, not because we were faithful, but because God is.
To Him be all glory, mercy and praise.
in the Lord
Amen
