"Cyrano" (2021) - Haley Bennett, Peter Dinklage

In this one Cyrano is a dwarf and his proxy "Christian"
is 'black' ...

de Bergerac (1610-1655) WAS an actual, very bright & talented,
person - not a literary invention (I once had difficulty
convincing an otherwise bright bookstore owner of that).
Cyrano's notably large nose was apparently a matter of fact
as well.

He is credited with writing the first "science fiction"
stories - "Histoire Comique par Monsieur de Cyrano Bergerac,
Contenant les Estats & Empires de la Lune" and another about
travel to the sun ... imagining using the properties of
rising dew to lift a vessel to other worlds. It was all
social satire similar to the later "Gulliver's Travels" ...
but the "technical" aspect, a theoretical/scientific means
to an end, elevates it to sci-fi.
