US considers BANNING gas stoves over concerns they cause
health and breathing problems - as new study finds one
in eight childhood asthma cases are linked to the
    'hidden hazard

    . . .

Um .... gas stoves/heaters/etc have been in wide
use for over 100 years. The big asthma thing has
only evolved in the past 30-40 years - and most
new homes use electric appliances. So, it ain't
    the gas stoves.

There IS a very good reason to ban them however,
EXPLOSIONS. Seems to be a house-a-week that
abruptly detonates right in the middle of
    Pleasantville.

The REAL reason they want to ban them is because
of alleged GW ... gas stoves won't run on windmills
    or photocells.

Oh, a practical lesson ... over the past few
years the UK got all gung-ho on replacing gas
heat with electric. They even had corps build
electric-2-hydrogen devices so you could still
have yer 'gas', but it'd be 'green' gas. However
after someone actually added up some numbers -
took awhile, they probably got fired - The Powers
realized that they'd basically have to tear down
their entire electric grid and replace it with 2X
or 3X capacity wire and devices. In short about a
zillion pounds the UK doesn't have anymore. There
also wasn't enough generating capacity in the country
to energize all this new hardware. Oops.

Gas cook ranges and Gas Furnaces are a necessity in the colder climates
of America. Don't forget Gas water heaters and more. When the electric
power fails or the gas furnaces fails(due to breakdown or the electric
control system is deprived of electric) That kitchen gas range can
produce live saving and enough heat without electricity to save the
plumbing, drywall plaster from disaster. Most water heaters are capable
of operating without electricity. Some of the more expensive high
efficiency ones require power to ignite and are power vented. Many
furnaces since about 1988 are closed combustion and all products of the
burners are power vented to outside. Kitchen ranges without power can
not self ignite,BUT can be lit with an old fashioned match. Not so with
high efficiency furnaces and high efficiency water heaters. Optional
heat might be dangerously acquired by using your Charcoal BBQ or if you
are a prepper...The old standby wood stove. Most standby Generators are
dual fuel and can use either a petroleum fuel or N.Gas/propane/Butane.
By the way, not many homes have old fashioned farmers matches on hand.
As for explosions with gas heating appliances. The national code
requires water heaters to have a filtration screen to bleed off gas with
no fire or explosion. Modern high efficiency furnaces also have code
required safety devices to prevent disaster. Unfortunately many kitchen
ranges last forever and are not protected by technology. And any fool
working hard enough can turn even a high tech kitchen range into a life
    ending debacle.

The Japanese after WWII utilized Charcoal to produce vapors to run their
cars and other internal combustion engines. They had also long used
charcoal to heat their homes. Probably not the best idea. The Swedes
built underground solid fuel heaters that was ducted a short distance to
the home. Here in the upper Midwest farm country some use Corn pellet
stoves for heat and some cooking. No idea what the damage to air quality
could be? The cost of corn varies with its demand for humans/cattle-feed/gasohol etc. Don't forget the Southerners moving up
    here demand
some of their south comfort White Lightning.

Look, all "They" can see is CO2 and profits to
the evil awful oil industry. They'd rather see
a million Americans die than have Big Oil make
a penny. It's fanaticism at its finest.

First they ban making more, then put a big tax
on those who have them. Meanwhile the electric
grid won't be grown enough to handle the vast
    new load.

In the UK, when the first cold snap hit, people
started cutting down TREES so they could BURN
the wood to stay warm. Electric couldn't cope
and gas prices became too high - so, torch the
planet to survive. The Greenies never quite
    understood how that works ....
