Well, they use to have dragnets in those days. As late as the 1960's I remember "the paddy wagon" rolling down the street, and if the cop even thought you were walking tipsy out of the club at two in the morning,
he would jump out of the wagon and throw you in the back of the wagon, and continue rolling down the street.
I met a lot of WW!!, I mean WWII combat veterans. It seemed almost an entire generation had spent 30 days on "detox" whether they needed to be detoxed wasn't important. You can imagine the effect that had on your employment status.Nobody went to college
