A top Twitter executive responsible for safety and content
moderation has left the company, her departure coming soon
after owner Elon Musk publicly complained about the platform's
handling of posts about transgender topics.
Ella Irwin, Twitter's head of trust and safety, confirmed
her resignation in a pair of tweets late Friday. She did
not say in the message why she was leaving, but her departure
came shortly after Musk criticized Twitter's handling of
tweets about a conservative media company's documentary
that questions transgender medical treatment for children
and teens.
. . .
"Content moderation" ... a modern euphemism for
"ideological censorship" ... is a four-letter word
in Free Societies.
Let us congratulate Musk for pushing Irwin out of
the organization. She wasn't the first, nor will
be the last, of the censors.
Doesn't matter WHAT particular ideology 'moderators'
might prefer - their AIM is to adjust 'reality' to
suit their particular biases. With large platforms
like Twitter, this has a decidedly negative effect,
very much contrary to the ideal of "free debate".
Yes, some 'debate' is ridiculous, idiotic, hostile -
but let the public observe, compare, and DECIDE
FOR THEMSELVES. "Protectors" NEVER really protect.
Too often quite the opposite.
I included a 'uk' group because of recent news of
"wrong thinkers" actually being ARRESTED for
offering the "wrong viewpoints". Orwell was NOT
intended to be an instruction manual folks ....
