The bad weather hit seven of the 10 departments in the country
which is already plunged into a protracted humanitarian crisis
fueled by gang violence, political collapse and economic stagnation.

According to the UN, the severe rains affected 37,000 people
    and displaced 13,400.

The town of Leogane, located 40 kilometers (25 miles) southwest
of the capital Port-au-Prince, was particularly badly hit, with
damage caused by three flooded rivers.

    . . .

They just never catch a break there, do they ? The
place seems cursed by the bad old gods.

Anarchy, violent quake, more anarchy (so bad lately
the citizens have begun killing the gangsters ...
beating them down and setting them on fire) and
    now a mega-flood.

And plenty of killer hurricanes interspersed.

Haiti has NOTHING. It's long been deforested, there
are no resources for getting ANYTHING started and
if you try the gangs will steal and destroy it all.

The odd bit is Haitians themselves generally come
across as quite intelligent and industrious - Gen-Z
looks just horrible by comparison. The weakness is an
inability to unify and organize on any scale above
'street gang'. Even when they technically have a
'government' it's basically just whomever was the
strongest street gang at the moment.

Oh ... and if the little Wokie anarchists ever try
to sell you a line ... Haiti IS WHAT ANARCHY LOOKS
    LIKE.
