    Worth reading.

    Dionysus was a somewhat discounted/persecuted god.
    He had to be hidden away from the wrath of Hera for
    most of his youth. The article suggests this gave
    him empathy for mortals and their problems - and
    ultimately he became the most popular god of all -
    especially by empowering women (not viewed very
    well by ancient Greek society).

    But consider ...

    Mao, ISIS, Hitler - they all gained their ultimate
    influence by empowering those normally discounted
    and oppressed by society. These people always chafe
    at being at the command of their "betters" - so, when
    empowered, they become fanatics in service to their
    "liberator".

    We had Hitler Youth, we had Red Guard ... in both
    cases the normally subservient kiddies were gifted
    with the power of life and death. How could they
    not love their liberator - and refuse to do horrible
    things in his name ?

    Now look at what the WokieComs do ........
