'Whatever this is, it took my wife': Widower shares his heartbreak and
shock after wife, 31, was killed by a rare FUNGUS that is growing across
the US
Sonya Cruz, 31, died from blastomyces — a rare but deadly fungus
found in soil
Her family is now trying to raise awareness of the infection,
which can kill 78%
Deaths by blastomycosis infections are increasing, according
to the Minnesota department of health.
In 2021, it reported 82 cases of the infection. Most years,
nine percent of people with blastomycosis die from the
infection, but in 2021, 23 percent of patients died.
. . .
Ok ... it's getting like that TV series now ...
Dunno if it's "climate change" or something else
but there seems to a sudden uptick in these
fungal infections AND their severity. Like Covid,
the more they spread the more they spread.
Fungi are notoriously difficult to treat - they
aren't really animal, vegetable, bacteria or virus.
They come from tough conditions - and are
likewise tough. MRSA is easy to treat by comparison.
Yea, if you've got "athlete's foot" you can spread
on some goo ... but what if it's all through you ?
This may be a good place for the mRNA people to
stand up and be counted ... and using bacteria
to gobble-up the fungi might be a backup idea.
