Among meandering alleyways in the historic market of Lebanon's
southern city of Sidon, cobblers and menders are doing brisk
business, as an economic crisis revives demand for once-fading
trades.
. . .
In much of the world now, if it breaks you just
toss it in the trash and buy a new one.
However economic disasters one after another and
shit leadership may change that well outside of
afflicted Lebanon.
A lot of stuff can be FIXED. The problem tends to
be something pretty simple most of the time. You
can fix anything from old shoes to cars to TVs
to microwaves and yer Hoover. There ARE people
with the skills out there, and now it looks like
they're suddenly back in demand.
If you can fix what is for half the price of
buying a new one, well, you're well ahead of
the game. Kinda like doubling your income ...
