    Ah, you mean both "border" and "tropical" ...

    There is no native Malaria anymore, though "locally
    acquired" SOMEBODY brought it in from south of the
    border before it jumped to the next guy.

    Now there USED to be a lot of Malaria native to
    the USA. My old man caught a case when he was
    a kid - in Chicago. There COULD be a lot of Malaria
    here AGAIN too unless health authorities jump right
    on it.

    Malaria doesn't "jump" from person to person. It's contracted through mosquito bites. The
    mosquitos that transmit it used to be restricted to the tropics but rising temperatures
    are causing them to spread into subtropical and even temperate zones in North America.
