Yes, it is due in part to to pin-headed Wokeism.

But there IS another angle ... and it's not just
the USA either.

It's the MONEY required to give due process and
civilized imprisonment. Budgets for jails and
judges/prosecutors/helpers keep getting smaller.
It was headed this way even before Wokeism (though
the Wokies made it much worse, much more quickly).

There are similar problems in the UK/EU.

Processing/holding are just plain damned EXPENSIVE.
A new jail costs a fortune ... twice a fortune for
a big max-security prison. The upkeep/staff and
such are similarly inflated. Threats of lawsuits
and witch-hunts are real and expensive. Oh, and
the prisons do NOT "re-hab".

Long back, the UK sorta solved an escalating crime
situation by shipping all the thugs to Australia.
Sorry, no more Australias unless Musk gets his
Mars rocket going ahead of schedule.

There has been a general decline in respect for
law and civility in much of the world. Few see
such thinking as a benefit to THEM. Even stolid
Japan now reports a lot of nastiness - tune
into japantoday.com and see. It was getting worse,
and the Covid stuff seemed to be the final
de-socializing straw.

The Islamics - well, they'll just KILL the perps
or chop bits off of them. However they also seem
to have persistently high crime ... nobody thinks
THEY will get caught.

What's been LOST is the WHY ... why you SHOULD NOT
be a criminal. That's morals/ethics - something the
West dares not teach its kiddies, and apparently the
Islamics cannot. China, interestingly, does seem
more civic-minded ... but just a little bit. Even
the full Marxist indoctrination only goes so far.

Western civ in particular seems to have topped-out.
No more frontiers. Little chance of individual
or group 'betterment'. As the punk said, "No
Future For You". That DOES weigh on minds and
shapes the future.

Gen-Z/A1 really now see NO good future for themselves ...
their jobs will go to machines, they will wind up in
a pitiful 'welfare'-type existence until the State
figures out what to do with all the excess obsolete
humans. This activates a 'predator/scavenger'
instinct - all for ME before it runs out. We
see the results.

Alas I don't see any fixes in the current cycle
of civilizations. It is going to get worse until
it destroys all. Then a dark age. Real barbarism.
Tribalism. Endless skirmishes between tribes.
Spears and arrows made from rusted Bently parts.

Then the cycle begins again - until everyone is
too 'civilized', too broke, too hesitant, to
produce ethical citizens.

Sorry, bleak picture I know. Short of some
super-strong new religion though, one that
puts the ethics/morality back in, I just
can't see a good end to our current trends.
Maybe the Aliens will come and give us a
new, hopeful, direction. Rather doubt it.

BUT ... the USA still has maybe 15-20 years
before it really hits the fan. Won't happen
everywhere all at once - though those 'blue'
states do seem ahead of the curve. "Bible
Belt" will last the longest - though, well,
"Bible Belt" .........
