What's the point of Best Buy now? Customers slam decision
to remove DVDs, Blu-Rays and CDs from stores
Best Buy will now no longer sell DVDs and Blu-ray after
deciding in October to close the two iconic sections of
their stores.
The decision to end selling DVDs and Blu-ray in stores was
made due to the shift in the way consumers are watching
movies and TV shows.
The move leaves Walmart, Amazon and Target amongst the
top retailers that now stock DVDs and Blu-ray discs.
In October, a spokesperson for the comment confirmed
their move that at the beginning of 2024 they would be
halting sales of the physical media.
. . .
The "new model" is that you actually own NO
movies or music - that you have to RENT
them over and over and over again. It's
kind of the old 70s mainframe/client model,
but explicitly intended to RIP YOU OFF forever.
The "physical media" offerings drew a LOT of
people into Best Buy - and, while they were
there, would spot/buy other stuff. NOW those
people are not gonna go to Best Buy and will
NOT spot those tempting extra items. They
won't buy from BB online either - Amazon
mostly instead.
There are lots of reasons corporations fail,
but IDIOTIC MANAGEMENT is by far the most
prevalent. Mostly Daddy/Granddaddy had a
"vision", but afterwards .......
"Dilbert" was a prophet.
