America's AI takeover: New map reveals US cities DOOMED to lose
the most jobs to tech... is YOUR hometown at risk?
A new study revealed people should move to tech hubs to avoid.
an AI takeover
Cities with more job diversity could be the safest area
for workers
. . .
Providence, Rhode Island, is projected to lose the most jobs,
possibly as many as 80%
However places like Orlando FL are in pretty good shape - the
volume of retirees will require lots of "human services" jobs
which "AI" won't be good at for quite awhile.
The article DOES kinda push a false claim - that "AI" means
more tech/IT jobs. First off, note that most of the pop is
NOT suited for such jobs. Then note that in order to realize
"AI" profits (temporary for several reasons) one of the goals
for "AI" designers will HAVE to be "AI" that manages/fixes/mods
ITSELF. There will be FEWER tech/IT jobs because of that.
If "AI" that manages/fixes/mods itself sounds creepy ...
well ... it IS. Beware. "AI" evolution could proceed
at fantastic speed. Even LLMs like Chat/Bard might
become indistinguishable from proper "intelligence"
in a rather short period. Fake something well enough
and it's not fake anymore. There are other "AI"
approaches out there too - perhaps equally or more
likely to become "conscious".
Posted a story yesterday of a military test of the top
five "AI" systems - a simulation of escalating tensions.
In the end, ALL of them went to Global Thermonuclear War.
Any surprise they act like us ? They've all been TRAINED
on human stuff ... a gazillion little details.
Oh yea ..... why will "AI" profits be temporary ? It's
because obsolete humans CAN'T BUY STUFF. They'll all
be on 'welfare', or maybe none, in big ghettos.
Line up for yer Soylent Green before it's all gone .....
Like REALLY.
